As the “Biggest Little City in the World” continues to flourish, few would argue that the center for much of our city’s culture has become synonymous with one particular area; Midtown Reno. Once regarded as run-down and neglected, the region has gradually transformed into a thriving center for art, music, food, and shopping. Here are just some of our favorite local Midtown businesses:

1864

As soon as you walk in, you can tell that this tavern was created for Nevadans, by Nevadans. This old-fashioned bar boasts a laidback Victorian-era atmosphere that differentiates itself from other popular locations in the Midtown area. Much of their drink menu is created with ingredients sourced locally. If you’re not in the mood for a mixed drink, opt for a craft beer or wine from local makers. They even host classes that teach how to prepare classic drinks like mimosas and bloody marys. Pick up their pre-made cocktails to take the party home!

El Adobe

This Mexican restaurant has been serving Reno for over 20 years. Using authentic family recipes passed down from three generations, El Adobe exclusively uses fresh meats and vegetables that are delivered daily. They not only won “Best Mexican Restaurant” in Reno News and Review’s Best of Northern Nevada but “Best Margarita” as well! We personally recommend the Ensenada fish tacos.

Hand Craft Coffee Co

Hand Craft Coffee Company opened in 2017 as a food truck selling coffee at Tesla Gigafactory. They opened a store inside the factory that same year. Fast forward to 2022, Hand Craft Coffee opened their first brick and mortar location in Midtown. They have a passion for coffee and great customer service. Their venue serves as a perfect place for meetings as well as spending time in their sunny outside courtyard.

Natural Selection

Natural Selection made our list simply due to the uniqueness of what they have to offer. They certainly live up to their slogan, “Keeping Midtown odd and beautiful since 2014.” Located in the heart of Midtown, Natural Selection prides itself on a wide array of peculiar plants, books, and preserved animal specimens from around the world. If you’re searching for something quirky to decorate your home with, look no further than this one-of-a-kind store.

Junkee Clothing Exchange

This local gem offers recycled clothing, costumes, vintage, affordable antiques, and furniture. If you’re looking for a costume for Halloween, Burning Man, or a themed party, Junkee Clothing Exchange is the place to go. To host a truly unforgettable event, book the “Costume Bus” that will come dress your guests head-to-toe in goofy outfits and take professional photos.
